Hunting season runs from autumn through to early spring.
Wildlife is busy and the fields are flooded with new scents.
To your beagle, it is basically TikTok for noses – endless updates, endless drama, and absolutely no chance of logging off.
They were bred to track scents in packs with very little human input. That means when their nose switches on, their ears switch off.
You could be waving a leg of lamb in the air and they would still keep scrolling through the scent feed.
It is just how they are wired. Their brain is designed to follow every “post” until they get the full story, and during hunting season the countryside is basically trending with rabbit,
deer and fox hashtags.
That is why 90 to 95 percent of beagles cannot be trusted off lead unless in a secure area.
With the right mix of structured walks, on-lead sniffing, and proper rest days, your beagle can stay happy, healthy, and you can hang on to your sanity.
Think of it as setting parental controls on your beagle’s social feed.
